First let me introduce myself, my name is Lynn, I was born and raised In England, then, at the age of 24, moved to California. I will be your fabric purchaser, seamstress, shopping assistant, cashier and mail provider, in other words, Double Decor is operated from start to finish by myself (unless you have any complaints, then I will send you to somebody else!!).
Each fabric is carefully selected (always cotton), but as with everything, we all have our own tastes and you may have a particular colour or pattern in mind which you don't find on the website. It is for this reason that I decided to do "special orders" . Special orders can be anything from showers (both baby and bridal), weddings, birthdays, particular colours or patterns, men's aprons etc., whatever your choice, just let me know what you are looking for and I will do my best to accomodate you. The men's aprons are available through the "special orders" section as there are just too many selections of different sports, sport teams, occupations, hobbies etc. to have them all pre-made. For "special orders", I usually ask 4 to 6 weeks (maybe less depending on how many orders I have at one time or how large an order is).
Double Decor was originally created as I can't count the amount of times I tried to find a unique kind of table setting where both sides would have a main pattern. All I ever found was either the same print on both sides ( maybe a different colour) or one patterned side and the other a solid colour, as for a double sided napkin, I still haven't found one (other than the ones I have made myself). The napkin rings were added as a finishing touch, these are also double sided, the fabric turns on the ring to whichever pattern you choose to use. For every place mat purchased, a napkin ring is included.
The aprons happened due to a childhood memory of watching my Mum in the kitchen making meals or baking, she never did either without wearing her apron. Occasionally though, something would splash onto her, she would try to wipe it off, but more times than not, it would leave a stain which would remain until she had the chance to wash it. I remember how upset she would be, especially if we had friends or family over for dinner, that she was now parading around with a dirty mark on herself (please remember that my Mum is also English!). Now, if my Mum had had a double sided apron, she could have just turned it around and she wouldn't have had to worry about the food stain. Thinking back to those times, I realized that I also needed to make toddler aprons (and baby bibs), as I would have loved to have worn an apron "just like Mums".
From being a little girl to adulthood, I have always had a problem with both friends or family seeing something I had bought (particularly clothes or decorations) and then buying the same thing for themselves. Because of this, I only make a certain amount of items with the same fabric pattern. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for my ridiculous "pet peeve"! My advise to you, because of this, would be that if you do see something you like and decide to purchase it (them) - place your order now, as the next time you look, it (they) could be sold out.
Finally, I would like to thank you for visiting my website and if you do decide to place an order, my hope is that you will enjoy your purchase(s) as much as I did in making it (them).
